Spring Restoration
Bold, some brazen hollyhocks
defy nature’s worst, escape
frozen earth, toss fall’s
dread shroud, stretch green
to dawn’s still light
past winter-burned lawn, sing
hope to one another
and to me, gathering
to bring new life
to this old house.
About this: Terry Legg gave me this, a tribute to some early spring hollyhocks recovering the garden of an old house he was restoring.
