October 5, 2018: Moody Morning

 Whose distant footsteps echo

Through the corridors of Time.

For, like strains of martial music,

 Their mighty thoughts suggest

Life's endless toil and endeavor;

 And to-night I long for rest.”

—HW Longfellow: The Day is Done

Following their 1777 victory at the Battle of Brandywine Creek, British officers occupied this nearby farm for a few days rest R and R before moving on the short distance to their objective of capturing the American capital at Philadelphia.

Today, the farm is operated as The Inn at Grace Winery, still a place of tranquility and rest.

The 18th century farmhouse remains: the British, not so much.
